NodeBB upgrade now cant post

    On my site An annoying ‘n out of n’ banner comes over the reply button, and the forum bar is just below that
    So I can just see a fraction of the reply button but cant click it.
    I cant even screenshot it to show example now as that seems ‘disabled’ as a new ‘feature’

    Id like to stop screenshot disabled, and remove this ‘8 out of 8 banner’. Is that possible?

    I’ve just seen the duplicate post on NodeBB. Can you go to /admin/plugins/harmony and match the settings below then save

    That issue is caused by element positioning where the bottom bar should auto hide to prevent that issue. If that doesn’t work, disable the quick reply feature and see if that helps.

    @Panda NodeBB doesn’t disable the ability to take a screenshot. That’s at operating system level not application, so something else is stopping that.

    I’ll need a screenshot of sorts, or access to your forum to be able to see what’s going on.

    Thanks, can post now.
    I find it disconcerting that ‘out of the box settings’ dont work. If it wasnt for your help I would have broken forum now!
    Thats why sometimes I double post urgent questions on both forums as I appreciate your fast and accurate responses 🙂

    @Panda yes, for some reason, that is the case. If you need an urgent response, it’s probably better to post here because of the time difference.

    @cagatay The most reliable way to upgrade Node.js on Ubuntu depends on how you originally installed it. Method 1: Using NVM (Recommended) If you already use Node Version Manager (NVM), upgrading is simple. NVM allows you to keep both versions and switch between them if needed. Install Node 22: nvm install 22 Switch to Node 22: nvm use 22 Set it as your default: nvm alias default 22 Verify the change: node -v Method 2: Using NodeSource (PPA) If you installed Node.js via apt using the NodeSource repository, you need to update the repository script to point to the new version. Remove the old NodeSource list (optional but cleaner): sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/nodesource.list Download and run the NodeSource setup script for Node 22: curl -fsSL [https://deb.nodesource.com/setup_22.x](https://deb.nodesource.com/setup_22.x) | sudo -E bash - Install/Upgrade Node.js: sudo apt-get install -y nodejs Verify the installation: node -v Method 3: Using the ‘n’ Package If you have npm installed, you can use the n interactive manager.     @crazycells yes, I’ve just seen that and modified the post. It seems to only happen if you have a space between the “greater than” symbol and the actual text. Clearly a markdown thing.

NodeBB by default users the free font awesome library whereas I use the pro (paid) version SDK have access to a wider set of icons, and at different thicknesses etc. The change of colour is just simple CSS.

    @Teemberland great spot ! You should create a PR for that so they can include it in the official repository. Just be aware that any subsequent releases will overwrite your fix without the PR.

    @jac That won’t matter. You just redirect at nginx or apache level and it’ll work. The generally accepted standard though is to use a subdomain.
