@phenomlab said in Windows 10 EOL by October 14, 2025: From memory, the commercial edition is RHEL. Yeah the RHEL is the commercial edition. I think I am going to stick with Arch and KDE desktop for that version. It seems like Arch is really versatile and compatible with almost anything. Pair that to the experience that I have had for the server side of things, and the USB boot version I have, it is hard to beat.

@phenomlab well I hope that a better company steps up and puts in a higher bid. If I had the money I would buy TikTok. That platform is a money makers dream. So many people on it now er or was. I think MS will just mess it up like they do everything else. Hell, they can’t even get their own software to work correctly, how would they even keep that one up and running.

@phenomlab issue was with high traffic spikes and the website used to get crashed. API is managed by others, its built in such a way they built it in such un protected way. we would be moving to nodejs own APIs soon to address all these issues. thought of solving it with help of you and a friend of mine is helping me build a new site with APIs. thanks

@mathourthy Good question. They have zero effect from what I can see. It’s not going to stop them from targeting anyone else.

As an aside to this, there is also the command of tasklist which will provide a list of processes running on your machine, or a remote machine you are looking to query. @phenomlab said in Advantages and disadvantages of changing to Ubuntu?: @jac Yeah, I wouldn’t just leap into it unless you have a valid reason (such as the laptop no longer working and needing to be reinstalled). Probably better the devil you know currently. Absolutely mate, and generally as discussed that is the only time I have changed over to Ubuntu once the laptop has got slower. For now I will carry on with Windows, purchase the VPN & BitDefender in later October / early November and then see how all that runs for a few more months .
