Oh yeah, I can’t believe that I forgot about that part. I meant to mention that as well. If a bot is intentionally seeking out people to prey upon like that, then the people/company involved should be held responsible for what happened.

@Madchatthew They are accountable for at least an involuntary manslaughter charge. It’s their technology, and it’s clear to see that there are no controls to prevent this sort of incident happening. Putting controls in place after a tragic incident like this is like locking the stable door after the horses have bolted.

@phenomlab yeah and nothing they do or change will bring that kid back. And now a mom and dad are without their child. It is good that they made those changes but a little too late.

Right or wrong, it’s certainly something to think about.

Ok, now this is creepy. Not only do these look realistic, but according to the article

I personally think anyone suffering with mental health issues is likely to be pushed over the edge by this rather than assist with their recovery.

@phenomlab Should we be worried by this? Given the article I referenced around Character.AI, I’m not convinced. In this case, the voice may no longer be inside your head, but via the speakers of your device.

The article about using AI to help those that hear voices is pretty cool. It is a unique way of dealing with them.

Yes, exactly. It’s awful, and there needs to be better deterrents in place to prevent it from happening in the fist place.

Could you imagine if it progressed to something that someone could have on their phone and they were using it at home or out in public somewhere and basically got a mind of it’s own in the process and learned from the environment around it. That could be dangerous to the person using it and to others.
