So far so good
I looked at ProtonVPN a while ago, and they actually have quite bad reviews
Apologies for the huge delay in getting backโฆ
I did indeed have to get rid of Proton. Iโm now enjoying using Nord & Express VPN with a Surfshark subscribe too for the family.
@JAC Thought youโd land up doing thatโฆ

Unfortunately there wasnโt any settings for the Proton app on Nvidia Shield so this was a no no, donโt get me wrong it did work well but without any settings itโs really pointless.
All other apps do this well so Iโm happy to be using the top three VPN services I some way .
If youโre after a VPN Iโve just found thisโฆ
https://fastestvpn.com/lifetime-special-deal?a=1&a_aid=5c5c2a7dc0813&sscid=91k7_8p6ie
Use code: fastlifetime to get the price down to ยฃ24 for the year.

Mmmmm - a โlifetimeโ VPN deal and yet โUse code: fastlifetime to get the price down to ยฃ24 for the year.โ ?? Reviews donโt look so hot either.
@phenomlab saw it and thought Iโd post it. Didnโt read reviews before I posted.
Feel free to delete
@JAC No need to delete. Thatโs not how we work here - all info (good or bad) is highly beneficial to everyone.
@JAC I think these are cheap because they are selling your infoโฆ and this is their primary way to earnโฆ although they say โno logโ, there is usually no way to checkโฆ
I believe one thing to check with these VPN services should be โwarrant canaryโ , if they are making canary statements regularly, then they are on your side (at least that is what I want to believe , what do you think @phenomlab ?), but if their canary is dead, then you can stop using them because there is government intervention.
I was using one of this cheap lifetime service 5-6 years ago, but I stopped using it after their canary was dead.
@crazycells I agree. This comment on their site speaks volumes - but not in a positive way
Yes, the Cayman Islands is known for itโs privacy laws, but that doesnโt mean there is a no-log policy.
Iโd agree yes, admittedly I wouldnโt touch these sort of deals myself.
Iโd rather go for one thatโs popular, tried and tested, although all are going to have their own flaws one way or another, thereโs always something that people donโt like but good principles and the one that makes you feel most at ease of using is a good start.

Exactly that - none of them are going to suit every individual purpose. You have to read the reviews, decide what functionality you need, and then make a judgement call for yourself (and your own unique needs).
There is no โwrong or rightโ, although I would steer clear of those that do not have a no-logs policy for privacy reasons alone.
