    @Sampo2910 Interesting. I took a look at this in more detail, and it seems you’re right. I can display the topics in each category (after setting the relevant permissions), but you can’t open them unless you register. That’s great.

    However, this seems to have a material impact on the recent view in the sense that nothing will show up as it requires the “Access Topic” right. Based on this, the options are somewhat restrictive in terms of which route will work best. Recent topics is almost useless as a view if you can’t see the topics that you have access to - I think that this is likely a better question for the NodeBB devs themselves.

    You could create a custom page, copy the recent template, and modify the underlying code to get what you want, but to me, this seems a little overkill for what should be a relatively simple ask.

    @phenomlab Hi,

    Thanks for taking a look. And yes it is overkill just for that problem. I noticed it on this forum ad liked the idea of it. However you can access topics here. I can just leave it as is and I will have the categories as the ‘home page’ Guests can see them but not enter.

    I will now try to look into why the tenor gif icon is missing in the posting section, plus why recent cards are vertical (lavender style) haha. It is always something.

    You are a gentlemen Mark and thank you again. 🙂

    @Sampo2910 having looked at this on your forum, there appears to be an issue with the latest release of nodebb-plugin-recent-cards. I downgraded to 2.0.22 which works fine

    @Sampo2910 I’ve also just fixed the tenor-gif missing icon issue. This is in fact not an actual font-awesome icon, but some CSS, which I’ve added to your forum

    .fa-tenor-gif::before {
        content: 'GIF';
        font-size: 1rem;
        font-family: sans;
        background: #333;
        color: #fff;
        padding: .25rem .5rem;
        border-radius: .5em;
        position: relative;
        top: -.2rem;
    }

    Should show correctly now

    @JAC those speeds are indeed possible over light as a transport medium (if you consider the speed) but I can’t comprehend the distance quoted. If you happen to encounter a solid obstacle, the beam is either absorbed, or deflected meaning the data never arrives.

    @phenomlab I will have to test this out in my virtual environment. I have an Arch KDE Plasma install in virtualbox that I am testing a bunch of things out before I actually wipe the hard drive and install linux. I am currently in the process of copying my Arch test web server over to virtualbox on linux to make sure that it works. This is the virtual server that I test updates on before updating the production server. I can’t remember the error I was getting but I think it had to do with the network device. That was on the virtualbox side. So the cloud storage will be the next thing that I test.

    @phenomlab this looks very nice as well. It is nice that they keep the KDE Neon a rolling release so you will get those updated apps even though Ubuntu isn’t a rolling release. Is it a rolling distro? KDE neon is rolling for KDE software. The Ubuntu base OS is not, but certain packages will be updated as needed to support KDE software requiring newer library versions than what is provided by Ubuntu. Apps from the main repositories are not rolling either, and therefore can be up to two years old. Users are encouraged not to use them, and to instead get apps from Snap or Flatpak using KDE’s Discover app store. In neon, Discover is set up to only show apps from these sources, filtering out apps from the repositories.

    @DownPW Hmm - it’ll work with iFramely (locally hosted), or you can use the below string to embed using https://community.nodebb.org/topic/7135/nodebb-plugin-ns-embed-ns-embed/114 Watch (?:<a.*?)?(?:https?:\/\/)?(?:www\.)?dailymotion\.com\/video\/([a-zA-Z0-9_-]{4,11})(?:.*?\/a>)? Replace <div class='embed-wrapper'><div class='embed-container'><iframe src='//www.dailymotion.com/embed/video/$1' frameborder='0' allowfullscreen></iframe></div></div> [image: 4f5f13f7-0c73-460e-b32f-f974f170b236-image.png]

    @DownPW said in Bottom footer navbar button extend: Oh my god, it’s beautiful mark I liked this design so much, I’ve implemented it here. I intend to do a lot more with the footer in due course, so hiding it makes a lot of sense. Thanks @DownPW for the idea and initial concept

    @cagatay same here. Was previously an IONOS user, but moved to Hetzner to realise both savings and performance increase and have never looked back.
