@Madchatthew I use it here. It is faster, but not sure if that extends to build times.
move out from flarum to wordpress

@Hari let me know when the admin role is available, and the URL of its not the default WordPress one.
One thing that’s worth noting here is that Flarum has trademarks and intellectual property, and with the theme you have looking almost like a replica, this may cause issues with copyright infringement.

@phenomlab sure i will share ASAP
thanks for mentioning about the TM and IPs i thought it is open-source
nor i am interested to sell/distributing wordpress thems and i am not going to WordPress.
i was inspired by this thread
https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/bbpress-like-flarum/ i have a version of this too but it’s an old version of flarum.i have read a few arguments on this (TM and IPs) on flarum discuss but i don’t want to bring that to here. siForum will not conflict with the laws.
if flarum is talking about trademarks they are only registered in Sweden or Finland … but not in India.
trademarks and IPs are first come first serve basis. whoever requests they will get TM.
i am not leaving flarum and not going to make this public. let’s call it a fun/home project. i do respect their efforts and work and i will continue to be like that.

for example, kjellr did something similar and he won’t be getting sued by Twitter

@Hari all fine with me. Was just pointing it out. Most trademarks incidentally are just in the country where they are issued as you’ve pointed out (you’d need to won’t in each country you want it registered). I just know that Flarum in the past has come down quite hard on those who have directly copied their layout or used their logo without permission, so this is likely covered under intellectual property, which can be almost global (90 plus countries) to my knowledge if you leverage the Madrid Protocol - although I don’t think that extends to India. The logo of course is fine as you are not using it, but the layout is almost identical. I’m not sure that their trademark extend to the site design, but it might be worth checking.
I completely understand why you want it to look like Flarum because of the users being familiar with that layout and it makes absolute sense not to deviate to much away from what they are accustomed to - just be careful.

Madrid Protocol
I am not going to use this theme or distribute it. it is an abandoned project (when there was no dev available to build flarum extensions for us we had to work on an alternative WordPress theme - features like guest posting, SEO changes are still big issues with flarum)
I am aware of this Madrid Protocol. they have opted for rights in their country only. (it was an a individual request exclusively valid for their own country)
https://branddb.wipo.int/branddb/en/usually site design will not have TM or IP (as far i am aware of)

exactly
and i am not going to use this replica if we have to go for WordPress or react we will opt for commento.io or something else.
i promise this will not go into the web. i will continue to love flarum

@Hari sounds good. Personally, I can’t use Flarum because of its fundamental lack of GDPR controls and the fact that they are using implied consent for everything.
-
//update
still, there is a lot to do, what he has done is so far good enough for a forum. it’s swift fast. 🥳

@sinanisler I love GPL too. The logo and brand is protected by a trademark, but as you mentioned, the look and colour scheme isn’t.
Can’t say I’m a fan of the layout, which is why I always changed it

Yes, I certainly hear you there.
The layout looks much better on my device now.

Font sizes and profile pic size need to be bit small … Alright everyone has their own taste . Everything works perfect now.

@Hari I know you are in the ‘love’ phase of wordpress, but from my 15 years experience hosting on and off WP sites for personal and business use, you WILL have problems. WP is plugin hell land. Plugins are mostly low quality and don’t work well with each other. It’s easy to add ‘just this one plugin’ and later realize you have an unmaintanable monster.
When you update WP, problems arise. Then it’s time to hire someone to fix them. Unfortunately, you will want to spend as little as possible, as we all do. Then upwork offers some really affordable freelancers… who barely know what they are doing or care about it.
IMHO, reconsider going to WP. Static sites, as you seem to like, will save you headaches in the future if you can live with the limitations (it seems you can; you have found comment software that would work for you and that you could self host).
