Solved Customisation

  • Hi All,

    It’s been a while. I took a break from well…everything to be honest. Anyway here I am and I hope you are all well.

    I have a question regarding nodebb and external links. Is it possible to make all external links open in a new window by default? Pretty sure it’s not in the settings. A lot has chnaged since I last played around with it.

    Thank you in advance.

    @Sampo2910 welcome back! Hope you’re well?

    It’s certainly possible to open links in a new window. It’s in the markdown settings as below

  • Hi Mark,

    Perfect and thank you.

    Yes not too bad. A few issues with the ticker (more of a scare) but reporting back for duty haha. All good. Working at sea and so I am not about a smuch as I would like to be. Have to earn the pennies.

    Thank you again. 🙂

    @Sampo2910 A feeling I know all too well with the “pennies”. Hopefully, you’re back to full health now?

    @phenomlab Yes, all good. Had all the tests and now back at it. Had some stress tests on the bike, running whilst all wired up like Steve Austin 🙂 All turned out well.

    Just one of them things, but sure makes you appreciate what you have.

    Funny how it does exactly that. Stay well!

    @phenomlab

    Just to add there is a plugin there to activate called link preview. It works ok but with that the links do not open up in a new tab/window. Other links are ok but not with that plugin 😞

    @Sampo2910 search the forum here for ogproxy which is the client side version of that plugin I wrote.

    It’s in use here on this forum.

    @Panda said in Spam spam spam: ok, yes Ive seen the queue, it shows IP, but doesnt have a field for comments from registrant. It’s not designed for that. It merely serves as a gateway between posts appearing on your form or not. @Panda said in Spam spam spam: It would be better if nodebb had this plugin included in ACP list, as not only then do you know its approved and should work, but many people cant or dont want to use CLI on the server That’s a question for the NodeBB devs but in all honesty you can’t not use the CLI when installing nodebb so to be this isn’t a big deal.

    @crazycells hmm. That’s odd. I haven’t made any changes from recollection but I could be wrong. I’ll need to check. EDIT - very strange. I honestly don’t recall adding the below CSS block to alter the bottom bar, but you’re right… .bottombar-nav { padding: 0px !important; } I’ve removed this so it reflects stock Harmony.

    @DownPW Looking at the underlying code, class start is being added on hover by jQuery in this function document.querySelectorAll(".button-gradient, .button-transparent").forEach((button) => { const style = getComputedStyle(button); const lines = document.createElement("div"); lines.classList.add("lines"); const groupTop = document.createElement("div"); const groupBottom = document.createElement("div"); const svg = createSVG( button.offsetWidth, button.offsetHeight, parseInt(style.borderRadius, 10) ); groupTop.appendChild(svg); groupTop.appendChild(svg.cloneNode(true)); groupTop.appendChild(svg.cloneNode(true)); groupTop.appendChild(svg.cloneNode(true)); groupBottom.appendChild(svg.cloneNode(true)); groupBottom.appendChild(svg.cloneNode(true)); groupBottom.appendChild(svg.cloneNode(true)); groupBottom.appendChild(svg.cloneNode(true)); lines.appendChild(groupTop); lines.appendChild(groupBottom); button.appendChild(lines); button.addEventListener("pointerenter", () => { button.classList.add("start"); }); svg.addEventListener("animationend", () => { button.classList.remove("start"); }); }); }) The CSS for start is below .button-gradient.start .lines svg, .button-transparent.start .lines svg { animation: stroke 0.3s linear; } And this is the corresponding keyframe @keyframes stroke { 30%, 55% { opacity: 1; } 100% { stroke-dashoffset: 5; opacity: 0; } } It’s using both CSS and SVG, so might not be a simple affair to replicate without the SVG files.

    @phenomlab Thx again for the reply. Well I am sure that it will be well worth the wait. I will watch with anticipation. For now it is OK. Just small minor irritations I fell in a lot of NodeBB ‘default’ things.

    @DownPW hi. Sorry for digging up an old post, but I’m going through items still unresolved and was looking to get an understanding of where you are currently with this?

    @riekmedia I’ve applied some new CSS to your site. Can you reload the page and try again ? For the record, this is what I added #footer { background: #2d343e; border-top: 4px solid #2d343e; font-size: 0.9em; margin-top: 70px; padding: 80px 0 0; position: relative; clear: both; bottom: 0; left: 0; right: 0; z-index: 1000; margin-left: -15px; margin-right: -338px; } The /categories page seems a bit messed up, so looking at that currently EDIT - issued some override CSS in the CATEGORIES widget <!--- CSS fix for overspill on /categories page - DO NOT DELETE --> <style> #footer { margin-right: -45px; } </style> That should resolve the /categories issue.
