Virgin Media Pricing

  • Virgin Media have quoted me ยฃ145 (from the ยฃ85 we pay now) to renew my expiring package with them, I can pretty much match the package to sky for half the price but Iโ€™m unsure how their internet compares?

Does anyone have any experience good or bad with Sky?

@JAC I have solid experience with both as you know. My advice here would be to call Virgin and tell them you want to disconnect. When they ask why, tell them itโ€™s too expensive. Keep pushing this mantra, and they will forward you onto the retention team who will do anything to keep your business.

This is how I literally 4 weeks ago went from M350 to 1Gbps and still saved ยฃ35 per month.

    Perfect!

Iโ€™ve done this and left them to call me back. When speaking with them I was told we can no longer have the pods for free, theyโ€™d now be ยฃ8 a month extra because we donโ€™t have an O2 SIM.

Either way the matter will get resolved one way or another and when it does Iโ€™ll be update this thread ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป.

@JAC keen to hear the update but really surprised they are calling back. They usually keep you on the phone to ensure they keep you at all costs.

  • Ok so, after standing off and letting them get in touch they called and called I wasnโ€™t able to always answer as theyโ€™d call me throughout the day at work, I phoned them back a few days ago and told them I keep getting called on this number and they said they can do it for ยฃ73 which I said thatโ€™s perfect letโ€™s do that, he said it then said hang on a minute I can get it down to ยฃ68.

I asked why couldnโ€™t the first person I spoke to couldnโ€™t just give me that sort of price and he said โ€œIโ€™ve no idea, I wouldnโ€™t pay that price myself and if I was you every time your contract is coming to and end, tell us youโ€™re leaving and we will definitely get back with a better priceโ€

@JAC haha! This is the way I always do it. It works 100% for SKY too. Good stuff. One up on the big guysโ€ฆ

  • 100% Mark, they can lower the price when they want to, naturally as itโ€™s a business they quote you stupid prices and they clearly rely on the elderly etc just renewing and not putting up a fight.

@JAC Yep. Donโ€™t fall into that trap ๐Ÿ™‚

@JAC those speeds are indeed possible over light as a transport medium (if you consider the speed) but I canโ€™t comprehend the distance quoted. If you happen to encounter a solid obstacle, the beam is either absorbed, or deflected meaning the data never arrives.

@phenomlab this looks very nice as well. It is nice that they keep the KDE Neon a rolling release so you will get those updated apps even though Ubuntu isnโ€™t a rolling release. Is it a rolling distro? KDE neon is rolling for KDE software. The Ubuntu base OS is not, but certain packages will be updated as needed to support KDE software requiring newer library versions than what is provided by Ubuntu. Apps from the main repositories are not rolling either, and therefore can be up to two years old. Users are encouraged not to use them, and to instead get apps from Snap or Flatpak using KDEโ€™s Discover app store. In neon, Discover is set up to only show apps from these sources, filtering out apps from the repositories.

@Panda said in NodeBB v4.0.0: the workings of World arenโ€™t intuitive Its not easy to get World populating when a forum is new to it This is a good point and one Iโ€™ve considered also. Itโ€™s a little confusing to be honest.

@DownPW If you donโ€™t mind a retro display type of Dot Matrix - why on earth would anyone want that? I get the concept, but itโ€™s nothing more than a gimmick and adds zero value to the operation of the handset. Sustainable productโ€ฆ with a ยฃ600 plus price tagโ€ฆ โ€œNothing Phoneโ€? More like โ€œNothing Specialโ€
