Ross Ulbricht pardoned by Trump
-
I never thought I’d see the day when Ross Ulbricht received a pardon.
The creator of a dark web market that sold illegal drugs, stolen passports and hacking equipment using Bitcoin has been pardoned by President Donald Trump.
Ross Ulbricht was sentenced to life in prison, without the possibility of parole, in 2015 in connection with his ownership and operation of the hidden website. The then-26-year-old was also ordered to forfeit $183.9m (£120.2m).
Ross Ulbricht was eventually apprehended by stupidly using his own GMAIL address to identify himself on a website discussion around magic mushrooms.
More like Ross “Not so bright”.
The fact this criminal has been released by Trump is simply unbelievable.
This comment alone says it all
“Make no mistake: Ulbricht was a drug dealer and criminal profiteer who exploited people’s addictions and contributed to the deaths of at least six young people,” said Preet Bharara, US Attorney for the Southern District of New York

Ross served 11 years, which would be the equivalent of a 16-20 year sentence, as ‘good behaviour’ prisoners get released after 50-60% of their sentences.
So isnt it about proportionality?
Not getting into a debate about what is a ‘just sentence’, and how much responsibility for those tragic cases.
but a ‘Double Life+40year’ sentence was harsh.
Far harsher than many criminals got for awful crimes with direct intention to cause harm.
So @phenomlab are you arguing that a ‘Double life +40’ sentence is what you would have been in support of, i.e. no release at any stage?? -

Yes, exactly. Let’s not forget the reason for the sentence in the first place, plus the fact that he created Silk Road with the intent for it to be used for nefarious purposes, and stood to make a lot of money from it. He fully intended to take advantage of the profit being returned at the expense of those people who died, and couldn’t care less about the demise of others as long as he was able to make money.
