@phenomlab exactly Mark, if they’d stick to the subject matter they’d keep people tuned in!
@JAC I also really hate the “sponsorship mentions” you typically see a lot of on YouTube. I understand the need to mention, but it’s incredibly irritating to be forced to watch the person you are following endorse the sponsor’s product even if it is at the end…

Too right, these are very annoying, I even paid for Youtube premium just to get rid of adverts, but now the vlogger just mentions a sponsor or puts an image on screen, or the famous “You’ll find the link down below in the description”

.@JAC yes, I have YouTube premium for the same reason and have noticed exactly that.

@phenomlab I guess it’s a way of them making / attempting to make money, shove both physical adverts down your throat and just incase you’ve swerved them here’s an image of who sponsored today’s upload

.@JAC Yes, exactly. That’s the point of monetisation, but it shouldn’t be at the expense of the viewer who may already be paying a premium fee to dodge stuff like that.

@phenomlab Absolutely, I agree, if you’re already paying to not have ads pushed on you then as you say it’s one or the other.

@JAC Not sure if you’ve noticed this (if you have an Amazon Prime subscription) but they have also started pushing ads on Prime, so it’s almost “Freemium” and you have to pay an additional cost to remove them

@phenomlab I did hear about this, I have Prime but don’t use Prime video, it’s utterly crazy that you already pay for a subscription with them but then have to pay a further fee to remove ads, drives me mad!!

@JAC and me. Literally makes me want to cancel my prime subscription

Absolutely! it’s a shame the Amazon delivery service is so handy

.@JAC but even that seems to have taken a nosedive recently. Tou can’t get same day delivery anymore (aside from groceries) - even if you have a prime subscription.
At least, that’s been my experience of late.

@JAC Always has I think. Given the net worth of Jeff Bezos, you’d think he’d give away stuff like this for free.

@phenomlab Definitely, it’s beggars belief that you should have to pay twice to get some ad free.

@JAC the worst part is that when watching a film, you get no warning whatsoever that an ad is coming. It just cuts straight into what you are watching which gets to be infuriating after a while and completely ruins what might be a good film or program.

@phenomlab that’s very true, is Netflix similar now, have they started pushing adverts?

.@JAC not that I’ve seen, although to be honest, Netflix is very expensive for the service on offer. In fact, I rarely find anything of interest.

I’m exactly the same, there’s so much on there but I just scroll through and I don’t really find anything I want to watch.

@phenomlab there we go…
@JAC the guy had already mentioned the app previously during the video and said how to download it and how much he loves it etc, and then went onto thank them for sponsoring the video
